Summer Break

Summer is finally here! The kids got out of school last week, and they are already driving me nuts!

They want to be entertained all day, and for some reason they don't like to play outside! What kind of kids don't want to play outside?? They want to color inside, watch sponge bob, fight with each other, snack all day long and say they are bored every 5 minutes!

They have swimming lessons everyday, and other than that they are home with me.

My schedule is totally thrown off, Ruby needs her 3 hr nap in the morning, and the kids keep waking her up, which means she is a pill and I get nothing done (since I am working from home).

HELP ME, I am going to go crazy! Anyone have any fun summer ideas, that we can do at home?...and is "Melissa" easy?

Stock up on freezy pops, turn on the sprinkler, blast the highschool musical CD outside, invite the kids friends over, and make it known that no one is coming in!! It's ghetto, i know, but it gives me a couple good hours solid:) Good luck girl!

i have a friend that makes her kids read an hour before the are aloud to do anything. that might get them out of your hair for a while... put them in charge of coming up with and fixing lunch... do movie time during ruby's nap with popcorn and a treat.... MAKE THEM GO OUTSIDE and lock the doors... or pawn them off on nikki!!! good luck, i am dealing with the same thing, but i don't have to work. that's got to be hard!! i found an idea on another friends site where she put 2 jars together (one labeled 'fun' and one labeled 'adventure') the kids came up with the ONCE A WEEK adventure ideas (zoo, pool, park, movie....) and the fun ideas (popcicles outside, friends, movie day, whatever your kids like to do) then they pick one adventure on sunday, work it into the schedule throughout the week and they do one 'fun' activity a day. that might make them feel like it is all there idea and give them something to look forward too. good luck!

Great ideas you guys!!! thanks~~~Brooklyn would love to blast high school musical!! And the jar idea sounds like a lot of fun! We just joined a gym with an outdoor pool, so I am hoping they can swim in the morning, wear themselves out and then sleep all day.....wishfull dreaming!

Been there, done that...with YOU!

1. You need a part time nanny, for that 3 hour block - some young high school girl that can take them to the park 3 days a wk or so.

2. remember "mommy money"? Have Brooklyn and Lily make it and think up the rewards they can buy. Have a list of jobs and what they pay.

3. Kids like order, they like to know what to expect so create a daily schedule...hey I think I'll blog about this....send me a photo of the kids being crazy, that I can post.

I love your Mom's ideas. I am going to use them! I feel the same way. My kids are BORED. And we are playing all day. THey have no reason to be whining and bored. I think half the battle is they are going to bed later and waking up earlier. So they are tired. September can't come soon enough.

That is identical to my girls. They don't want to be outside. They want to watch spongebob, make a mess with barbies and whine about how bored they are and then on top of the whining, it's the constant teasing GRR! My mom finally went and got a kiddie pool and sprinkler, so that has kept them busy for at least an hour and a half each day. She let them take her (really mine from when I was little) mini upperware tea set outside in the water and they had a blast playing tea party in the pool.
