Watch KH press

On Monday I was interviewed for Fox 12 "Better" program which runs monday at 9am here in the Northwest. The studio came to us at Knuckleheads headquarters.

Trent and I spent the weekend cleaning and organizing the warehouse, it was a mess from shipping fall 08. I was interviewed about the company, I probably sound really lame. I wasn't nervous until she started the questions, but then I loosened up a bit and had some fun. Then they fiImed Otto skateboarding on the ramp, and Ruby running around being crazy.

I am not sure if you can pick up a live feed but here is the link to the studio.

The segment will also be available online from here. This will be run on 35 stations nationwide also. Then she also also hosts a morning radio show the BUZZ 105.1 during the Nelson and Terry show and she will talking Knuckleheads at 9am. So..tune in here, on thursday.

***new info on the MATH story below***

I told her to get the correct example from her teacher so that I know how to do it so I can help her. She got upset and said she was waiting for daddy to get home.

When Trent got home she read the word problem to Trent; it went something like this, "if a fern grows 3 times faster than the tree, when will the fern be as tall as the tree?" (there was more to the problem, but this is all Trent heard) and Trent goes, a fern will never be as tall as a tree.

So, Brooklyn wrote that down and turned it in! So, obviously this is not the MATH answer, even if it makes sense in real life. Hopefully her teacher will laugh and let her try again...poor kid, both parents are not good at math!

********

I had my eyes dilated for the first time today.....it was a weird feeling, and a pain, I couldn't see my computer for a few hours so I had Trent read me my emails, so if you got a weird email just ignore it. Anyhow the eye visit was totally worth it because I am going in for Lasik on Oct 10th!

Whoo hoo, I am so excited, can't wait.

On another note, I have been helping Brooklyn with her math homework and today she came home upset because she got her homework wrong. Apparently I can't do 4th grade math...word problems. So today she had the same homework (different word problem) and I have NO clue how to do it or how to tell her how to do it. She has to do a chart and explain how she got the answer and I have no clue how to do that part...so if you are good a math charts please call me!!

House update

We have finally decided to back down and take our home off the market, we are going to stay put. While it is the best time to get a good deal on a house, it would just be stretching our pockets a bit more than we want with this economy. So, I will bloom where I am planted and do little re-modeling, ei; my bathroom, kitchen, fireplace, and back yard!

At least I will have some fun looking for new ideas. Brooklyn is dying to paint her room and move her school room/art room into the outside office. (we were using it for storage but we finally cleaned it out when we put our home up for sale and now it is perfect for the kids to use). Also, Trent was forced to finish some projects that were on his 10yr plan, so I guess it forced us to get some things done that we would have kept putting off.

#28. I wear glasses and I hate them.

P.S. I am going in for my LASIK consult on tuesday! Wish me luck, Whoo hoo

The best high chair ever!

I wish that I had this for all of my kids! It is totally washable (tray is dishwater safe), it rolls which means that we can roll Ruby around the kitchen so she can see all of the action and eat at the table with us. Plus it is ultra cool and modern. Find it here
Advice from Donald Trump for raising great children.....

1. Be an example. Children watch –and they will emulate what they see.
2. Set the standard high. Challenge is good, and accomplishment creates healthy self-respect.
3. Stress the importance of education, it’s the foundation for success.
4. Let them know they are exceptional, so exceptional results are expected.
5. Exhibit a sense of community through participation and philanthropy. Giving back is a great reward.
My favorite quote for the week;

"Anyone who imagines that bliss is normal is going to waste a lot of time running around shouting that he has been robbed. The fact is that most putts don’t drop, most beef is tough, most children grow up to be just like people, most successful marriages require a high degree of mutual toleration, and most jobs are more often dull than otherwise. Life is just like an old time rail journey ... delays, sidetracks, smoke, dust, cinders, and jolts, interspersed only occasionally by beautiful vistas and thrilling bursts of speed. The trick is to thank the Lord for letting you have the ride."

I really want this for my b.day. (A girl can dream can't she?) found here

#27. I feel very secure and happy when we come home from shopping at Costco. There is safe feeling when you know that if you had to you could totally survive for a few weeks on the the stuff that you just purchased there. I don't know if it is because the packages are so big or because the bill was so high, but I always feel like we never have to shop again and it feels good...until we have to go again two weeks later.

#26. I used to beat up kids in band. Ok, I know that sounds wrong and a bit confusing, but there is a good explanation.

There was a "bully" in our 7th-8th grade band class, and one day he was talking trash to my brother Robbie. Have you ever seen the the movie Christmas Story where Ralphie lost it and beat up the bully? Well, that was me, I guess I just lost it. It was pretty bad. The kid was crying, I think I was crying, and Robbie was crying because he was laughing so hard.

I am not sure what ever happened to the kid, I think he might have moved away soon after the incident, maybe because he got beat up by a girl?

I am in love! I can't stop looking at it! The fabric (Amy Butler) was calling my name even though the last thing that we need is another blanket......but isn't it pretty?? (Bought it on etsy).

#25. Fall is my favorite season. I love the crisp fresh smell in the air, I love putting on a cozy sweater with my favorite jeans and slipping on some great boots....oh I can't wait! P.S. my birthday is in the fall too!

#24. I loved high school, I admit it! I was one of those girls that was totally into football games, pep rally's, hanging out after the games at the "cool" pizza place, all of that silly high school stuff. I loved learning, I liked my teachers, and I got decent grades.

I think it is healthy to be a carefree teenager, where your only worry is what you will wear to school the next day. I am glad that I have great memories and hilarious pictures to look back on. No regrets!

#23. I want this dress
#22. I "heart" this magazine!

#21. I think that confidence and empathy are two of the most important character building traits that I want my children to have.

#20. I don't eat red meat. So, I am half vegetarian, I still eat chicken and fish.

#19. I hate walmart! Actually let me change that thought...I am AFRAID of walmart. Honestly, I don't mean to sound rude but the oddest people come out of the woodwork and shop there, and quite frankly it scares me. I don't like the way most of the shoppers at walmart act, how they treat their children and how they look at me. Really, it is uncomfortable and I feel gross, I HATE walmart!

#18. I don't like vacuuming. Trent does most of the vacuuming at our house. It stems from when I as little and my mom would make me drag our huge vacuum up and down the stairs, for some reason I hated it so much that I vowed that I would not make my kids do that. So, we have a vacuum upstairs and one downstairs. Ha, solved that problem!

The first day of school! Whoo hoo. It was just me and Ruby most of the day and Otto for a few hours. It is amazing how free you feel with only 2 kids!

Brooklyn finally choose the right outfit, after asking us what the weather was going to be like for 2 weeks, she finally picked her Roxy capris, her new converse and a cute tunic from Nordstroms. Lily on the other hand had her outfit picked out 2 weeks ago and had it hanging by her bed. She would wear her outfit rain or shine!

When the girls got off the bus, Brooklyn was super chatty and telling me all about the new projects and her new teacher, Lily was super quiet. I couldn't get much out of her as we walked back home from the bus stop. As soon as she saw Otto, she lit up instantly and was super chatty and wanted to play outside with him and she hasn't stopped bossing him around since. I think she missed bossing someone around and just missed her best buddy. Those two really are good friends, they are also worst enemy's and fight...but that is just fine with me because I know they are best friends too!

#17. The other day someone asked me why I don't garden or do any other yard work, and I said "Because I am busy building an empire". At first it was a silly comment, just trying to avoid that real answer ( I hate gardening and I hate getting dirt on my hands) But the truth is that deep down I was not kidding. I am trying to build a Knuckleheads empire. So, if this is an empire then I must be a queen and the girls would be happy to take on the role of princesses and everyone else is servants, advisors or entertainers...so what roll do you want to be in my kingdom?
#16. I am embarrassed to admit that I love my UGGS. Yes, I know they are ugly and yes I know they are trendy. But once you slide your feet into them, you will never take them off. They are most comfortable shoes (if you can call them shoes, they are really glorified slippers). So, just be warned that I will be wearing them all winter...so deal with it.
#15. I love a great deal...nothing is more fun than finding that "thing" that I wanted so badly, but cost a fortune and then finding it on ebay or on clearance later. It is a thrill for me! (And I can justify the purchase if it was a good price!)
#14. I used to be a "mean" girl, or at least I think I was. There was a time, 3, 4, 5, 6th grade that I had little or no friends and no one liked me. I remember coming home crying because I had no friends. One year I was so stressed that I wouldn't get a valentine card at school, so my mom bought some flowers for me from Robbie and left them on my desk. It was my only valentine that day. Looking back, that was pretty sad. Nowadays kids have to give a valentine to everyone, so that no one gets left out. I totally agree with that.
In 5th grade my mom threw me a party and one kid came, I think this is why I hate parties now...deep down I am afraid that no one will come! Poor poor little missy!
#13. I perform my best under stress. Give me a challenge and throw in some deadlines or ultimatums and I will take off.
#12. I had 4 c-sections, not fun. After Ruby, my doctor said that I can't carry another baby bc my uterus is too week. So, we are the Nash six and it feels good to have our family complete and to know that I am DONE!

#11. These are my favorite things right now;

ebay, target, celebrity baby blog, mid century furniture shopping and nordstroms, oh and that great jalapeno parmesan dip at costco!

#10. I have great teeth. My got my first cavity when I was 27. And havn't had one since!
#9. I like my feet.
#8. I am afraid of heights...deathly afraid. I freeze up when I go over bridges and I have had a panic attack on an airplane.
#7. I was a lifeguard/swim teacher through highschool. I still love to swim and I find it a very relaxing workout!

#6. I fell in love with Trent the first time I saw him. I couldn't get over him, he was my version of Brad Pitt. I hung his pictures all over my room and kept making my roommates look at his pictures and force them to say how good looking he was!.......sorry Julie to put you through that! LOL
#5. My first boyfriend was 18.......and I was 14, I must have been a pretty mature 14 yr old or the boyfriend was really immature. Who knows.
#4. I used to be deathly afraid of needles or shots, so bad that when I was 12, I had to get blood taken for testing when my brother was a baby, and it took 2 nurses a doctor and my dad to hold me down.
#3. My childhood dream was to become president of USA, or to manage a bank....cause I loved money!

It wasn't until college that I found my interest in Art. I change my major a few times. I tried out horticulture, fashion design, interior design, photography and then I finally settled on Communications (PR) with a minor in Art.

#2. I was a drama nerd in Jr. High. I tried out for all of the productions, even the musicals and I was a HORRIBLE singer. I can't even carry a tune. I must have had really good self esteem or something!
